You may know Idan Amedi as an actor from the hit Israeli series Fauda or as a popular singer-songwriter. But in October 2023, he put aside entertainment to join his reserve unit in the IDF’s Combat Engineering Corps. In January 2024, while serving in Gaza, Amedi was seriously wounded by an explosion during a tunnel demolition. He suffered burns and shrapnel injuries but miraculously survived.

After months of recovery, he was discharged from hospital and spoke movingly about the friends he lost and his determination to continue both his art and his service. His story is a reminder that Jewish pride is not only sung on stage but also lived in sacrifice and resilience.
