Famous Jew in History: Hanna Szenes

Hannah Szenes did not just dream of a Jewish future, she built it. In 1939 she left Hungary for what was then Mandatory Palestine, became a kibbutznik, and poured her soul into her poetry. But when Europe’s Jews were being deported, she did not sit back. She volunteered through the British army, trained as a paratrooper, and jumped into Nazi occupied Europe to help save her people.

Captured and tortured in 1944, she refused to betray her mission and was executed at just 23. Today she is remembered in Israel as a national heroine, proof that Jewish pride is not only words on a page but also action, sacrifice and courage that still inspire.
